Choose Music Wisely

Choose Music WisleyIf there is one thing that never changes
in this world, it is the power of music.

Music is very powerful. Whether we like it or not, music can change the way we feel. It can immediately take us to a distant land, take us back in time, or give us hope for the future. I love Christmas. I love everything about Christmas, especially the music. I can hear a song, and remember where I was and what I was doing at that moment when that song was being played. Music creates many wonderful memories.

When I Listen to Carole King singing, “So far away” I am instantly in Oregon driving along the Columbia Gorge. When I sing, “I Know That My Redeemer Lives” I remember my Grandpa Jesse Fish, and what a good example he was for me. That song was sung at his funeral.

I believe not one thing effects the soul more for good or bad, than music. Have you ever tried watching a movie with the sound turned down? How would you feel if you didn’t sing at church? Whenever you listen to music, ask yourself this question. Does this music encourage you to help the little old lady cross the street or run her over? I know this is exaggerated but it works. Choose music that helps transform you into someone even better then you were before the music began playing.

Coriander-Did You Know?

Coriander:Cilantro-did you knowDid you know Coriander is the oil of loyalty, specifically loyalty to oneself? The individual in need of Coriander oil may be stuck in a cycle of always putting the needs of others ahead of their own. Coriander changes the focus of a person from doing things for the acceptance of others to honoring, and living from ones true self.

Coriander and cilantro come from the same plant. The word coriander can be used to describe the entire plant: leaves, stems, seeds, and all. Most people are referring to the spice produced from the seeds of the coriander plant. The leaves of the plant are commonly called cilantro, which comes from the Spanish word for coriander.

The change in names is very appropriate, since the plant’s leaves and the ripened seeds taste totally different. Cilantro on the other hand is a little too different for many more delicate taste buds, unfortunately. Most people either enjoy or greatly dislike the taste, but I can see why some people argue that it’s an acquired taste.

It’s a different story for the seeds. Coriander is an extremely popular spice with a pleasing aroma and lemony flavor, found in many recipes. Little is known about the origins of the coriander plant, although it is generally thought to be native to the Mediterranean and parts of southwestern Europe.

More recently, coriander plants were known to be growing in Massachusetts by the early 1600’s, one of the first herbs grown by the American colonists. Coriander essential oil promotes digestion and eases stomach upset, aids in a healthy insulin response, soothes joint and muscle pain. Coriander essential oil is also know for toning and rejuvenating to the skin.

Cypress-Did You Know?

Cypress-did you knowDid you know Cypress is the oil of motion and flow? Cypress teaches our spirit how to let go of the past by going with the flow of life. Cypress gives support to people by helping them throw aside their worries and let go of control allowing them to enjoy the excitement that comes from being alive, and being fully in the present.

Mediterranean Cypress has been widely cultivated as an ornamental tree for millennia away from its native range, mainly throughout the whole Mediterranean region, and in other areas with similar hot, dry summers and mild, rainy winters. Natural forest stands of the species mainly occur in the western part of the Mediterranean region of Turkey.

It is also known for its very durable, scented wood, used most famously for the doors of St Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican City, Rome. The Mediterranean Cypress is also known as the “drama tree” because of its tendency to bend with even the slightest of breezes.

Cypress oil is known to mankind since ancient times and has been used in many traditional medicines. Aromatherapy has been another important usage of this essential oil which has been a common practice for a long time. It is also known for the cross on which Jesus was crucified was made from the wood of cypress tree.

The oil from the cypress tree assists with clear breathing. Promotes healthy respiratory function. Soothes tight, tense muscles. Supports localized blood flow. Beneficial for oily skin conditions. It has a grounding, yet stimulating effect on the emotions, making it a popular oil to diffuse during times of transition or loss.

As A Man Thinketh

believe
As A Man Thinketh
If you think you’re beaten you are.
If you think you dare not, you don’t.
If you’d like to win but you think you can’t
it’s almost a cinch you won’t.
If you think you’ll lose, you’re lost,
For out in the world we find,
Success begins with a fellows will
it’s all in the state of mind.
If you think you are outclassed you are.
You’ve got to think high to rise,
You’ve got to be sure of yourself,
Before you can ever win a prize.
Life’s battles don’t always go
to the stronger or faster man.
But sooner or later the man who wins,
is the man who thinks he can.

Lesson 1: The most important rule of writing your goals down is that you must follow if you want to achieve success.

Most of us already know that it is vitally important to write your goals down. The simple mechanical act of writing makes your goal visible and tangible. That’s no longer just a thought! Now it’s a commitment. But there is one rule you must follow to succeed that very few know.

It’s not enough to write your goal down…

… You have to describe it in complete detail!

Make it as specific as possible.

Compare: “I want to buy a new home” and “I want to live in a new two story gorgeous Victorian style home with 4 spacious bedrooms, luxurious living room with a fireplace and hardwood floors. I will enjoy my large backyard with swimming pool and patio…”

“I want to make a lot of money”

I Blew It!

I blew ItThere are many things in life that leave an impression with you. For me one of those things is gum, chewing gum, bubble gum, all things gum related. If you are old enough to remember Bubs Daddy, Hubba Bubba, Bazooka bubble gum with the cartoon strip called Bazooka Joe, and the penny gum ball machine, you were a kid in the 1970’s.

I grew up about a mile from a convenience store. When I would get finished doing my chores around the house, I would walk to the store with my brothers and sisters to buy gum, and lots of it. I loved chewing bubble gum and would blow huge bubbles that would pop all over my face. Sometimes I would even chew two or three pieces at once. Oh, the memories.

It seems like I was always in some competition with my brothers. One of them suggested we see who could chew the same piece of gum the longest. One of my brothers even went to sleep chewing his gum that ended up in his hair the next morning. The gum was so tangled he needed to get an early hair cut.

We decided to make the rule more clear. It was OK to take your gum out of your mouth at night. I remember taking my gum, and putting it on my wooden bed post. The next morning when I took the gum from the post it had wood stuck to the gum. The gum had become extremely stiff from 16 days of chewing that it pulled wood from the bed. I believe my brother Mel won after 17 days.

I got to thinking about gum when I was given a bag of candy that was mostly gum to give to the kids at school. I don’t like giving the kids gum because it is to messy so I chewed a few pieces. This is when my memories started coming back to me when I held gum more sacred. After all these years, it has become more clear why I don’t like to chew gum. I chewed enough gum as a child to last a lifetime.
