There’s something unusual about Agarwood: its remarkable aroma begins with a tree under stress.
Agarwood, also known as oud, comes from trees in the Aquilaria genus. But the prized aromatic wood isn’t simply waiting inside every tree. When certain Aquilaria trees are injured or stressed, they can respond by producing a dark, fragrant resin within the wood. Over time, this resin transforms the otherwise pale heartwood into the richly aromatic material we know as agarwood.
