Most of us don’t wake up one morning and suddenly find that all our healthy habits have disappeared. It usually happens a little at a time.
We stay up too late. We stop taking that afternoon walk. Convenience replaces a few good meals. Stress piles up. One skipped routine becomes two, and before long we may wonder how we ended up so far from where we intended to be.
That’s the slippery slope.
The encouraging part is that if small choices can move us in one direction, small choices can also help move us back.
It might begin with going to bed a little earlier, taking a ten-minute walk, drinking more water, preparing something fresh for dinner, or simply making room for a few quiet minutes during the day. None of those choices is dramatic. That is exactly why they are manageable.
Essential oils can be part of those everyday routines as well. A bright citrus aroma might become part of your morning. Peppermint can add a fresh aromatic note during the afternoon. Lavender or Frankincense might become associated with a quieter evening routine.
Essential oils aren’t going to climb the hill for us. Neither will a vitamin, a new pair of walking shoes, or the latest wellness trend. We still have to take the steps.
And perhaps that is worth remembering. Taking better care of ourselves doesn’t always require turning our lives upside down. Sometimes we simply need to notice which direction we are moving—and make one small adjustment.
You don’t have to reach the top of the hill today. Just find your footing and take the next step.
