Authorities are still trying to explain what happened last night.  According to several very reliable nursery rhyme witnesses, a cat was seen standing in the village square playing a fiddle with remarkable confidence. Just as the tune reached its liveliest note, a cow gathered speed, launched into the air, and sailed gracefully over the moon. A nearby little dog burst into laughter, rolling on the ground as if he had just witnessed the funniest thing imaginable. Before anyone could make sense of it all, a dish and a spoon quietly slipped away together, apparently deciding that adventure was more exciting than sitting on a kitchen shelf.

Thankfully, no one was injured—unless you count a few bruised expectations about how the world is supposed to work.

If the village had an Essential Oil Response Team, Wild Orange would certainly have been the first bottle opened. Its bright, cheerful aroma would have matched the laughter echoing through the countryside and reminded everyone not to take life quite so seriously. Frankincense would soon follow, helping the crowd stay grounded while accepting that some mysteries are simply meant to be enjoyed rather than explained. Lavender would gently round out the evening, encouraging everyone to relax, smile, and let the impossible remain delightfully impossible.

Perhaps that is why this Mother Goose favorite has lasted for generations. It reminds us that imagination has no limits, laughter is wonderfully contagious, and life’s most memorable moments are often the ones that make the least sense. Every now and then, it is perfectly acceptable to set logic aside, enjoy the music, watch the moon, and cheer for a cow with extraordinary jumping ability.

Did you know the orange is one of today’s most popular fruits? Originally oranges earned fame anciently to help control scurvy, one of the most devastating diseases of the time. The orange followed trade routes around the world, planted in areas where conditions allowed by sailors who knew its medicinal importance.

Oranges probably originated in South Asia-possibly in Southern China, Vietnam or the northern reaches of the Indian subcontinent. Indian records mentioned wild oranges as ingredients in recipes. The use of oranges in Indian cooking and medicine dates back at least 7,000 years. By 1000 A.D., farmers in China established orange orchards and competed to produce much better varieties of this delightful fruit.

Wild orange essential oil can be used in an all-purpose spray to cleanse and purify surfaces. Add a drop to your water every day for a burst of flavor and to promote overall health. Diffuse to uplift mood and energy levels and to freshen the air. Energize the mind and body. Dispense one to two drops in the palm of your hand along with equal parts Peppermint and Frankincense. Rub palms together and inhale deeply from palms, then rub on the back of neck.
